Relationships and Sex Education
As part of our school requirements, we will be delivering our agreed scheme of work in the week beginning 5th June. Our scheme of work focuses on the physical, social, emotional, intellectual and spiritual changes that can occur at primary school. RSE is considered an essential element of the education of the whole child. The teaching is underpinned by reference to the Catechism of the Catholic Church. For all year groups this would entail no more than three lessons in this week. If you would like to view the content, that was agreed by the Governing Body and a parental working party in 2016. You are able to view all the PowerPoints that will be used in each year group below.
The church has always recognised that it is the privilege of parents and the responsibility of the family to inform and educate their children in all matters pertaining to human growth and development, particularly in the sensitive area of sexual development.
Parents have the right to withdraw their child from any or all parts of the school’s programme of Sex Education other than those elements which are required by the National Curriculum Science order. If you wish to do this please contact your child’s class teacher. You will then be contacted in due course to let you know exactly when these lessons will be taking place. Your children will be moved to an appropriate setting within the school and provided with suitable work. They will be supervised by a member of staff
