- There are 10 subjects in the National Curriculum. English, Mathematics and Science are the core subjects. Phonics is taught in the Early Years Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1 using the Letters and Sounds Programme.
- History, Geography , Computing (ICT), Design Technology (DT), Art, Music and Physical Education (PE) are foundation subjects. Personal, Social, Health and Citizenship Education (PSHCE) is also taught in the primary school curriculum.
- Religious Education (RE) is a core subject and is allocated 10% of learning time in Catholic Schools.
Subjects are taught mainly as discrete units of work but sometimes they are linked together as part of a topic. In the main, the curriculum areas are taught as discreet subjects although in KS1 there is a more topic based approach to learning. Many skills are taught and applied across all curriculum subjects and learning. This is particularly so with Computing and language skills. Units of study are adapted and reviewed to ensure that learning content meets the specific needs and interests of pupils in our school.
