Relationships and Sex Education (RSE)
As part of our school requirements, we will be delivering our agreed scheme of work in the Summer term. Our scheme of work focuses on the physical, social, emotional, intellectual and spiritual changes that can occur at primary school. RSE is considered an essential element of the education of the whole child. The teaching is underpinned by reference to the Catechism of the Catholic Church.
The church has always recognised that it is the privilege of parents and the responsibility of the family to inform and educate their children in all matters pertaining to human growth and development, particularly in the sensitive area of sexual development.
Parents have the right to withdraw their child from a limited number of lessons in the school’s programme of Sex Education other than those elements which are required by the National Curriculum. If you wish to do this please contact your child’s class teacher. You will then be contacted in due course to let you know exactly when these lessons will be taking place.
